WILL OF RUTLAND RUSE

In the Name of God Amen

Rutland Ruse -  Farmer in the Parish of Ketton otherwise Kedington in the County of Suffolk - and grace being in good health of sound mind and memory Praise be God for the same -  I do declare this my last Will and Testament mentioned following that is to say after my funeral and testamentary expenses and all just debts are discharged by my hereinafter mentioned Executors - the residue of my Real and Personal Property I do bequeath in form and manner following – To my son Rutland Ruse I bequeath the sum of one shilling to be paid to him by my hereinafter mentioned Executors – and to my Daughters Mahala Sophia Alice and Mary an equal benefit in those premises late known  by the sign of the Bull Inn in the said Parish of Ketton – with the yards gardens and all other appurtenances thereunto belonging and now in possession of Messrs Wade and Silverstone also John Prentice as yearly tenants to use also all those premises with the yards gardens and all other appurtenances thereunto belonging to late ? Radfords and now occupied by my son Rutland Ruse as tenant to use – Also a piece of ground containing six roods called Rail Meadow with all my households furniture goods and effects whatsoever and wheresoever  and all monies owing and due to me at the time of my decease – revoking all former Wills I do declare this my last Will and Testament and I do appoint my two sons Charles and David Ruse my Executors also my daughter Ann Ruse full power as Executist with her to witness I have set my hand and seal this eight day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three in presence of each and all whose names are hereunto and subscribed – Rutland Ruse (S.S) – signed sealed published and declared by the said Rutland Ruse the Testator in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereof – Robert Ruse – B Smith - dated this eighth day of October 1823

Proved at London 14th January 1825 before the Worship John ? Pickard of ? ? by the oath of Ann Ruse Spt the daughter out of ? whom ? was granted being first sworn duly to ? power ? to Charles Ruse and David  Ruse the said Executors
