THE POTTER FAMILY OF HUNDON
There are records of the Potter name in Hundon from the late 1680's. I do not know what occupation the early Potter families had but by the 1800s they were working as Shoemakers. The most successful was Daniel Potter born 1806. Following his fathers occuaption he was a Cordwainer in Hundon for almost 45 years until his death in 1868. The Census described him as a Master Cordwainer. His wife Hannah Potter was the School Mistress from about 1851 until she became the Post Mistress about 1871 when her daughter Hannah took over as School Mistress.
