George was born on 10 Nov 1879 (1) in Bedford and baptised on 13 Feb 1881 at At Paul in Bedford. He married Bertha Gray in London in 1904. (2)
Bertha Rosina Gray was born in 1878 (3) in Cambridge.
George had moved to Newmarket, Suffolk to stay with his sister Caroline Strangward, then for a short time he went to London where he married Bertha and they had their first child. By 1911 the family had returned to Newmarket where the couple had a further three children. George and Bertha ran the fish and chip shop in Market Street, Newmarket.
